Santiago 2 - Cerro San Christobal

Santa Cerro Cruz is the tallest view point in Santiago and makes an spectacular place for viewing sunsets and the mountains around Santiago…. if the weather is good.

On top of the hill stands a 14m tall statue of the Virgin Maria. To get up on the hill I took a funicular, which is kind of a small train travelling upwards in an angle of 45 degrees. On the way up I got a better and better view of the city and at the end station Santiago is all over the place. This city is BIG!

On the eastern side it is possible to take a ride on the “telérifico” which is a kind of a gondola in the air. It stretches 2km and at the time I were there the sun was setting which produced an incredible light.

I watched the sunset and went down with the funicular again.
